Founded in 1946 the Cannes Film Festival is the largest, most influential and prestiguous international showcase in the world of cinema. Every year, for 12 days in May, the small city of Cannes in southern France turns into a meeting place for cinema tastemakers and trendsetters.
In the universe of yet-to-be-discovered filmmakers, the Cannes Film Festival is a godsend. Artistically, it's an anything-goes film showcase that has launched the careers of directors like Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, The Cohen Brothers and Quentin Tarantino. It boasts such diverse events as red carpet black-tie screenings, midnight movies on the beach, and legendary parties.
The Short Film Corner
For 56 years the festival only allowed exclusive access to working industry professionals until it launched The Short Film Corner in 2004. The Short Film Corner's primary objective is to create a platform for film students and indie filmmakers to come together and network, showcase their talents, participate in workshops, attend cinema master classes and ultimately aid paricipants in expanding their knowledge of the film business. The Short Film Corner also serves as a marketplace where Directors, Producers, Buyers and Festival Programmers from all over the world come and scout young, fresh talent.
From May 13th to May 22nd 2009, the Festival de Cannes will present the 6th edition of the Short Film Corner, where you will discover an array of activities designed to help you advance your career.
Each day offers a cocktail of events including films screenings, daily round-tables, workshops and happy hours. All of these events are aimed at providing film students and independent filmmakers with concrete tools and keys to optimize their professional skills, enrich their contacts and promote their work to professionals in search of new talent.
Recently, we received an email from Creative Minds saying this:
Applying for the Short Film Corner Badge
In order to access all that the Cannes Film Festival has to offer you will need a festival credential. After reviewing the Creative Submission of your film "Why Biola Rocks," we believe you are qualified to submit your film directly to the festival. By doing so each film submission is then granted two Short Film Corner Badges, which will cover Colin Cabalka and Boye Fajinmi.
Basically It means we will not only be working at the festival but we will have full participation along with a video submission God-willing it all works out! I will keep you updated

We are really stoked. What an honor it would be to partake in the festival with full credentials! So, we will be submitting our film to the Short Film corner!
